GTA 6: what's confirmed, likely, rumoured or debunked
Every major claim about GTA 6, labelled by how sure we are, with its source and the date we checked it. When the evidence changes, the label moves here first.
Confirmed Stated by Rockstar or Take-Two, or visible in official footage.
Rockstar released The Launch Gallery, a new set of official GTA VI screenshots, on 5 November 2026
39 images by our count of the files on the page; Rockstar gives no number. The post gives no unlock time and no other new launch fact. Places in the shots have not been through our evidence check yet.

Selfridges says a Grand Theft Auto VI experience starts there from 9 November 2026
The post gives the date only. It names no store and gives no details, and Rockstar has not announced it on the Newswire as of 5 November. Which stores take part is unconfirmed.

Spectrum offers eligible US customers a free temporary upgrade to 1 Gig from 9 to 30 November, pitched at the GTA VI download
Opt-in through the My Spectrum App; eligibility rules apply. Spectrum’s own promotion: the release does not mention Rockstar or Take-Two. Its “less than 30 minutes” claim needs close to full speed for the whole of Rockstar’s 212 GB figure.

The GTA 6 pre-load needs up to 212 GB, depending on your console
Updated 3 Nov: Rockstar's pre-load post gives the official figure, up to 212 GB depending on device. It replaces the 210 GB that a PlayStation Store tracking account reported on 27 Oct, which we carried as Rumoured. Pre-load opens 10 November.

The Vintage Vice City Pack comes with every GTA 6 pre-order or purchase made before 20 November 2026, so launch day (19 November) is the last day to get it
Take-Two's June announcement says all pre-orders and purchases before 20 November include the pack, plus a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders. The Rockstar Store page says the same (re-read 3 November). It isn't only for pre-orders: buying on launch day still counts. Neither source gives a cut-off time or time zone, and Rockstar hasn't said whether the pack will be sold later. Ads calling this the “last chance” are marketing, and the date hasn't changed.

Digital pre-load opens 10 November 2026: midnight local time on PS5, 00:00 GMT worldwide on Xbox Series X|S
Updated 3 Nov: Rockstar's pre-load post moves digital pre-load two days earlier than the 12 November in Take-Two's June pre-order announcement. Code-in-box copies are still due at retailers from 12 November. Pre-load means download early, not play early: the game unlocks on 19 November.

Rockstar will publish a free printable cover-art poster and map of Leonida on 19 November
A free digital download on the official site at launch. A double-sided physical version follows shortly after launch from the Rockstar Store, at $0.99 on its own or free with any purchase.

‘Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score’ by Justice releases 11 December, separately from the album
30 tracks on streaming services, CD and vinyl, three weeks after launch. It includes the Launch Trailer song “Flower in a Hurricane” and the new single “Pusher” feat. Gesaffelstein, out 29 October. Rockstar calls it an adaptive score that changes with how you play. It’s a separate release from ‘The Album’, the 34-track soundtrack out on 19 November.

A ‘Criminal Profile’ rates how Jason and Lucia operate, from ‘Professional’ to ‘Irredeemable’, and changes how the story unfolds
Per Edge, knocking someone out or intimidating them, rather than killing, counts towards the profile, and Rockstar says the profile influences how the story plays out. Edge’s reporter watched about 90 minutes of play by Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson.

Police work from what they know about you: a ‘heat’ system tracks your description, clothes, weapon, partner and CCTV
Each piece of information shows as an icon on screen. Changing clothes, dropping the weapon or splitting from your partner removes pieces of the description. Newer, expensive cars can carry trackers, and owners report thefts. Edge saw stinger strips, a K9 unit and helicopter searchlights in the demo.

Every vehicle has a fuel gauge and engine health, and Leonida has working bus and train networks
Edge says cars go a long way before running low and refuelling is quick. Rockstar North’s Phil Hooker told Edge he checks the buses turn up on time and has memorised the routes. You can also have a car delivered for a fee through an in-game phone app, Scooter Bros.

Jason and Lucia’s closeness is measured on a four-point scale that rises with time spent together
Shared activities raise it: beach walks, cycling, the gym once you’ve bought a membership, driving around together. Rob Nelson wouldn’t confirm or deny whether the couple can marry. Edge: the pair can’t split up entirely, and you can switch between them when the story allows.

GTA VI is rated 18+ outside North America: PEGI 18, USK 18, CERO Z, GRAC 19+ and Australia R 18+
Each badge read on PlayStation’s own page for that country on 19 October. PEGI descriptors: Drugs, Sexual Content, Violence, In-Game Purchases. CERO Z (crime, violence) isn’t sold to under-18s. Australia’s database also holds an R 18+ record for a GTA VI demonstration dated 27 August. PEGI’s own public search doesn’t list the game yet. ‘Adults Only’ is right in PEGI’s wording and wrong for the ESRB (M, not AO).

Rockstar released the official GTA VI Launch Trailer on 15 October 2026
Published on Rockstar’s channel at 13:00 UTC. Runtime measured by us at 89.167s (2,675 frames at 30fps) from Rockstar’s own downloadable master; Rockstar’s page rounds it to 1:29, YouTube to 1:30. Debuts the Justice single “Flower in a Hurricane”. Rockstar does not number it — “Trailer 4” is press shorthand.

GTA VI is rated M (Mature 17+) by the ESRB
Descriptors as printed by Rockstar: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol; interactive element: In-Game Purchases. Headlines calling it ‘Adults Only everywhere’ are wrong for the ESRB.

Six in-game radio stations are confirmed, plus first-ever on-demand podcasts
Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM and Dirty South Classics — listenable in vehicles and on foot via new headphones and earbuds. Rockstar names the hosts as in-game personalities; its text does not say which real-world artists voice or curate them, so neither do we.

The ‘Goodtime State – Vice City Collection’ Collector’s Box is merchandise, not an edition of the game
A limited collectible set themed on the in-game TV show Macca the Gator, arriving 19 November — Rockstar’s own words: “Grand Theft Auto VI game sold separately.” It includes a double-sided poster of the full Leonida landscape.

Rockstar's third major reveal, 'GTA VI: An Extended Look', aired 27 August 2026
26m48s, captured entirely from in-game PS5 footage. Netflix-exclusive premiere at 3pm ET, free on Rockstar's YouTube and site at 9pm ET the same day. Runtime measured by us at 1608.067s (26m48s) from Rockstar's own downloadable master; outlets round it to 26m49s.

GTA 6's map is roughly 3× RDR2's playable area, and Vice City is roughly 2× Los Santos
First-party scale figures given by Rockstar to press around the Extended Look. 'Largest Rockstar world ever' is press framing of these numbers, not a Rockstar quote — we track the numbers. Update 29 Oct: Rockstar told Edge the total landmass, Vice City included, is nearly as large as the playable maps of GTA IV, GTA V and RDR2 combined. Edge’s own shorthand is “roughly twice the size of GTAV’s”. Outlets compare against different games, but Rockstar’s figures all point the same way.

An unauthorized leak campaign ('CyberLeek') published unreleased GTA 6 footage through August 2026

GTA Online for GTA VI will not be available at single-player launch
Rockstar’s own store listing calls GTA VI ‘a single-player experience’, and on 17 September Take-Two’s CEO told shareholders (as reported by Inven Global) the game launches ‘as a single player experience’ with no recurrent spending anticipated ‘with regard to this launch’. No online mode has been announced with a month to go. Still no first-party statement about online plans either way — so Likely, not Confirmed.

Physical copies are 'code in a box' — no disc, with the code bound to an account
Corrected 19 Oct: the announcement itself says the physical version comes “containing a download code inside the box”, on sale 12 November to support pre-loading — that part is first-party, and Rockstar’s 3 November pre-load post repeats the 12 November retail date. It doesn’t say in so many words that there is no disc at all, or that the code binds to one account, so the claim as worded stays one notch below Confirmed.

Rumoured Circulating and plausible, but not verified. Treat with caution.
GTA VI cost more than $1 billion to make
Strauss Zelnick said only that it “was expensive and it took a long time”, and neither confirmed nor denied the figure when it was put to him. No budget number has come from Take-Two or Rockstar.

GTA 6 reviews go live on 18 November, the day before launch
An insider claim, not an announcement. Rockstar and Take-Two haven’t said when reviews can be published or confirmed that review copies are out. Times of day going around (6–7am ET, or midnight on the 19th) are forum guesses.

Rockstar has confirmed the time GTA 6 unlocks on launch day
Several big YouTube channels said on 3 Nov that Rockstar had confirmed GTA 6's release times. It hasn't: Rockstar's Newswire post and its own pre-load FAQ give the times pre-load STARTS on 10 November (midnight local on PS5, 00:00 GMT on Xbox), not when the game becomes playable on the 19th. We'll update this the moment Rockstar announces an unlock time.
